Sandbox & Innovation of Sustainable Urban Micromobility Integration Launching and Community Engagement.
Experimental fields : UTMKL & Kampung Dato’ Keramat (LRT Damai & LRT Kg. Dato’ Keramat)
The Sandbox of Sustainable Micromobility and Innovation at UTMKL and Datuk Keramat is a collaboration between UTM Kuala Lumpur, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), and URBANICE Malaysia to explore sustainable mobility innovations towards a low carbon city and integration of public transport to support the first and last mile connectivity. A sandbox is a controlled live environment (study area) with relaxed regulations where innovations can be tested.
In this particular Sandbox, innovations such as micromobility modes of transport will be tested for 12 months and observed in UTM Kuala Lumpur and the Datuk Keramat neighbourhood, to solve the first and last mile connectivity issues in the area.
UTM Kuala Lumpur hosted the launch of the Sandbox of Sustainable Micromobility Integration and Innovation at UTMKL and Datuk Keramat on 16 December 2022. The arrival of the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Haji Mahadi Bin Che Ngah was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) of UTM, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd. Hamdan Ahmad. The programme was also attended by Dr Azmizam Abdul Rashid, the Deputy CEO of URBANICE Malaysia (the agency under KPKT), and Mr. Justin Tiew Senn, General Manager of Beam Malaysia.
