Komuniti Hab Taman Murai Jaya, Durian Tunggal, Melaka
The Komuniti Hab Taman Murai Jaya was built in July 2020 and launched on 20th September 2020. This is the first Komuniti Hab that is located outside Klang Valley, i.e. in the south region of Malaysia. The community of Pangsapuri Taman Murai Jaya is currently operating the Komuniti Hab in the midst of Covid-19, while observing the necessary SOPs. There is a community garden that is being grown collectively by the community and they are sharing the yields of their crops among themselves. At the same time, the children in Taman Murai Jaya are using the hab’s library and activity space quite promisingly.
The low cost flats were built in 2013. 40 units of the flats are reserved as housing for the poor (ASNAF) and temporary accommodation for families who had been through loss and are rebuilding their lives and livelihoods. The flat is currently inhabited by 150 residents who make up the B40 strata. 25 units are occupied by ASNAFs who are under the caretaker of Majlis Agama Islam Melaka (MAIM).
Komuniti Hab Taman Dagang, Ampang Jaya
Komuniti Hab Taman Dagang was introduced officially on the 14th December 2019. Prior to the hab’s completion, one of the issues highlighted from a site-visit and a series of meetings with the residents was the lack of space for community activities and gathering. The Komuniti Hab.
Flat Taman Dagang, Ampang Jaya is a public housing under the management of Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya and was built in 1992. There are 10 blocks with a total of 800 units. It is estimated that around 3200 residents reside here. Working adults of age 25-55 years old make up the most of the population, followed by elderly groups that are pensioners and retirees.
Komuniti Hab Taman Beringin, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur
On October 13th, 2018, World Habitat Day was held at PPR Beringin with the support of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government and UN-Habitat Malaysia. Komuniti Hab Taman Beringin was launched and it was then that Urbanice Malaysia introduced the first Komuniti Hab in support of the aspiration of World Habitat Day.
PPR Beringin is a public housing building under the administration of Kuala Lumpur City Hall. It has 6 building blocks and is home to 1896 households. The total number of residents is estimated to be 5490 with mostly working adults and young families making up the majority of the population.
